Alfonzo Harris. Sr

Alfonzo Harris, Sr. was born March 5, 1948 in White Plains, NY to Louise (Brooks) and Alexander Harris. Alfonzo was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 26, 2018. Affectionately nicknamed “Skin”, “Bubba” or sometimes even “The Professor,” Alfonzo always had a word of wisdom for anyone he spoke with. After working many years at Smithfield Packing, Alfonzo retired, eager to enjoy the things he loved to do: fishing, playing cards with the fellas, watching sports (especially the Eagles), and debating the news. He also loved cooking and often times catered many events. 

         Alfonzo married Annie Virginia Riddick from Gates County in 1969 and built a beautiful life with her until her passing in 2013. He is survived by his children Alfonzo Harris, Jr.(Dawn), Angie Harris-Ramseur (Micheal), and his step daughter, Barbara Hines. Alfonzo also leaves behind siblings from the Dawes family, the Brooks family, and the Harris family as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held on Monday December 31, 2018 at 12 noon at First Baptist of Gates.  Burial will be held at the church cemetery.  The family will receive members of the community on Sunday December 30, 2018 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at the funeral home.
