Larry Bagley

Larry Bagley of Gates,  peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on Friday, June 7, 2019 surrounded by his family.  

Larry Darnell Bagley was born on November 14, 1958, in Suffolk, VA. He joined Lebanon Grove Baptist Church at an early age, and accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior.

Larry attended Gates County Public School System and later served as an employee for the BASF Chemical Company and Smithfield Foods.  He was also a consummate outdoorsman. 

Larry, also affectionately known as “Larry Luv”, was always the life of the party.  No dance floor was safe when he touched it!  He was a lover of life, and a lover of people, with an infectious energy that captivated every room he entered. 

Larry is preceded in death by his father, the late Robert Bagley Jr. 

He leaves behind to celebrate his life and memories, his only child, Davon Bagley of Atlanta, GA; his loving mother, Embry “Peaches” Bagley; a dedicated partner of many years, Betty Gibbs; his sister, Linda Sorey (William); his brother, Reginald Bagley (Pearl) all of Gatesville, NC; his brother, Melvin Bagley (Francine) of Hampton, VA; nieces, Lyneshia Elliott, and Melanie Henry; nephews, Marcus Elliott and Reginald Bagley, Jr.; his favorite “aunt-best friend”  Aunt Bobbie; and extended family, Sharonette Thomas, Tyrone Warren, Timika Thomas, Octavia Thomas and a very special “great granddaughter” that he adored, Taziya Allen.  He also leaves to cherish his memory great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of special friends. 

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday June 15, 2019 at 11:00am at Abundant Hope Church in Gates, NC.  Mr. Bagley will be laid to rest at the Bagley Family Cemetery in Whaleyville, Virginia. 

The family will receive friends and members of the community on Friday June 14, 2019 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at the funeral home.
