Wade Boone Obituary

On Tuesday, March 26, 2019, Wade Tyrone Boone, our loving brother, father, grandfather and uncle passed away at the early age of 62.  He was born on August 16, 1956, to George and Margaret Jones Boone.  Tyrone was the youngest of seven siblings.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Angela.

Tyrone graduated from Gates County High School in 1974. He then attended Roanoke- Chowan Technical Community College in Ahoskie, NC where he received an Associate in Applied Science degree with a concentration in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technology. Tyrone started his career working in the maintenance department with the Gates County School System.  He was then hired at the Norfolk Naval Base, Norfolk, Va, where he worked in the maintenance department for 16 years.  After a short stay in Virginia, Tyrone moved back home to take care of his aging mother. He was hired by Lane Farm Supply and worked there for 20 years, until his retirement in October 2018.

He joined First Baptist Church in Gates at an early age.  He believed in the spiritual powers of God’s love and lived a life of happiness, fulfillment and purpose. He believed in treating everyone with respect.

Tyrone was known for his great sense of humor, his infectious smile and his kind and compassionate spirit.

He loved watching reruns of Sanford and Son, and old movie westerns. He called that “wholesome” TV.  He enjoyed reading every section of the newspaper, and could talk to anyone about current events, politics or sports.  Tyrone was a devout Washington Redskins fan, and he enjoyed college basketball,  especially when UNC-Tarheels were beating up their arch rival, the Duke Blue Devils.

Tyrone was most proud to be a father and a grandfather.  He took extreme pride in talking about his daughter, Tyronda and his 6-year old grandson, Jay’lene.  He was excited about retirement because it gave him more time to spend with his grandson.  Tyrone loved his family and they loved him too!

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted daughter, Tyronda, a special son, Junie, a grandson Jay’lene;  five sisters and brothers, Curtis Boone, Murfreesboro, NC;  Daisy Baker, Winton, NC; Sadie Riddick, Gates, NC; Carolyn Knight (Johnny) Gates, NC; George Earl Boone, Franklin, VA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday March 30, 2019 at 12:00pm at Upper Room Assembly.  The internment will be immediately following at First Baptist Gates.  The family will receive friends and members of the community on Friday March 29, 2019 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at the funeral home.
