Alma Lassiter Obituary

Alma D. Lassiter affectionately known as “Doe”, short for Dorethea, was born August 24, 1962 to Louise Arline and the late Curtis Arline. She received her education in the Gates County Public School system and was a graduate of Gates County High.

Alma loved serving, especially at church, volunteering to help others, shopping, showing support to people and the things she cared about. Most of all, she loved to make an entrance wherever she was. She had an overall excitement about life.

Alma lived in New Jersey during the early part of her life with her aunts and later moved back to Gates County. She has had a plethora of occupations throughout her life. Her most recent job was the Manager at Solid Foundations Group Home in Eure, NC.

Alma was a member of New Hope Baptist Church but later joined Lebanon Grove Baptist Church where she remained a member until her death. She served in the choir, hospitality ministry and the Pastor’s Aid.

Alma was preceded in death by her two sisters, Annette Arline and Shirelle Boone.

Alma married the love of her life Mr. Dennis Lassiter, who also preceded her in death. To this union, two children were born.

She leaves a legacy and fond memories to her children: her daughter, Alisha Lassiter of Greenville, NC, and her son, Michael Lassiter of Gatesville, NC; her mother, Louise Arline of Eure, NC; one brother in law, Parker Boone (husband of Shirelle); sisters in law, Bernice Lassiter (Bennie), Rosaland Corbin (Leonard) and Athaline Watford. She also leaves memories to one niece, Shreeka Simone Arline; uncle, McArthur Britt; aunts, Linda Parker, Evelyn Porter, Marion Crump and Pearl Harrison; one great niece, Alexis Smith; two great nephews, Brandon Smith and Jason Gary, Jr., and more family, relatives and friends whom she loved. Lastly, she leaves and cherishes her dog, “Angel”.

The family will receive family and friends on Friday March 27, 2020 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm at the funeral home.  Due to the restrictions issued by the Governor of North Carolina, a private service will be held for immediate family only.  Ms. Lassiter's final resting place will be at Lebanon Grove Baptist Church cemetery.
