Beverly Celestine Hudson Harrell, 53, of Corapeake, NC, departed this life on August 12, 2020 peacefully in her home after a short battle with breast cancer. She was born in Hackensack, NJ on May 15, 1967 to Albert Hudson, Sr. and the late Eula Mae Payton.
Beverly was educated in the public schools of Gates County and was a graduate of the Red Barons Class of 1985. She later became employed as a bus driver with Gates County Public Schools. Prior to her illness, she was employed by Wal-Mart Corporation where many of her family and friends looked forward to seeing her beautiful smile while shopping. She was known for her sweet spirit, her love for family and family gatherings, and her passion for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Beverly will forever be in our hearts and greatly missed.
Preceding her in death, Beverly was welcomed into her heavenly home by her mother, Eula Mae Payton, her stepfather, Willie A. Payton, and her two sisters, Sandra Twine and Renee Jones.
She is survived by her loving spouse of 34 years, Michael Harrell, Sr. (Corapeake, NC), three children: Shante Harrell, Michael Harrell, Jr. and Courtni Harrell, all of Sunbury, NC. Her grandchildren (Amari, Michaela, Khaidyn, Jameer, Avri, Michael III and Elijah), who were the apples of her eye, her father, Albert Hudson, Sr., one sister, Angela Hudson Lassiter (Corapeake, NC), a host of nieces and nephews, two uncles: Ernest Watford, Jr. (Joan) of Suffolk, VA and Michael Watford, Sr. (Dilann) of Corapeake, NC, two aunts, Thelma McClinton of Willingboro, NJ, Anita Gatling of Sunbury, NC, three sisters-in-law, Gloria Norman (Chesapeake, Va), Gladys Baker (Ahoskie, NC), Linda Harrell (Woodbridge, Va), five brothers-in-law, Bobby Harrell(Beulah) Harrellsville, NC, Eugene Harrell (Rosa) Ahoskie, NC, Thomas Harrell (Lenora) Suffolk, Va, Willie Harrell (Cynthia) Harrellsville, NC, and Larry Harrell (Patricia) Suffolk, Va., and several cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will take place on Wednesday August 19, 2020 at 11:00am for a graveside service on the grounds of Union Branch Church. The family will receive friends of the community on Tuesday August 18, 2020 at the funeral home from 3:00pm-6:00pm. Due to the pandemic restrictions, masks must be worn.
