Calvin H. Taylor, Jr.

Calvin Hayes Taylor Jr, affectionately known as “Juke” was born February 19, 1955 to the late Gracie Elaine Eggleston and Calvin Hayes Taylor Sr. Our beloved Juke, gently and peacefully transitioned from this earthly life into his eternal rest on Sunday, October 9, 2022.

Calvin received his formal education through the Gates County School System. He began his working career with his uncles, in The Riddick Brothers Logging Company. He later started working with George P. Gatling Logging Company of Sunbury, NC, where he remained until his health failed him.

Calvin was an avid outdoor sportsman. He was a member of the Roduco Hunting Club. Juke enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching western movies, wrestling and of course cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He would say, “How Bout Dem Boyz?” He was a gentle quite soul, however, his sharp wit and take NO junk, tell it like is, personality will be greatly missed.

Calvin leaves to cherish his many joyful and loving memories, three devoted and faithful sisters:  Gracie Taylor, Angela Hall and Dafen Williams of Gates, NC; Step-Father Edgar Eggleston (Gates, NC); Four nieces, Sherita Taylor (Durham, NC); Tomika Smith(Taiwan) (Gates, NC); La’Quita Williams (Burlington, NC) and Taniesha Taylor (Newport News, VA); Two nephews, Ricky Eggleston (Clayton, NC) and Tarriel Bynum (Myersville, Maryland) Five aunts, Mary Jordan and Mattie Briscoe (Gates, NC) Daisy Trotman(Keith) Ahoskie, NC; Dorothy White (Durham, NC) and Barbara Parker (John) (Hillsborough NC). Seven great nieces, Five great nephews, and a host of cousins and friends.

His brother, Carlton Taylor, preceded him in death. 

A viewing and visitation will take place at the funeral home on Thursday Oct. 13, 2022, from 4pm-7pm.

A funeral service to celebrate an amazing man will take place on Friday Oct. 14, 2022, 12 noon at First Baptist Roduco in Gates, NC.

Final Resting place will be at the Hall Family Cemetery in Gates, NC.
