Carrie Lee Holley

Carrie Lee Holley was born on March 25, 1944, to the late Viola Rountree and departed this earthly life to her eternal home on June 29, 2026, at home with her family.

Carrie attended Greater Welch’s Chapel Baptist Church from the time she could walk, giving her life to Christ at an early age and was baptized in the Chowan River right down the street on Cannon Ferry Road.

God allowed Carrie to work at Apricot and Dalure Fashions Sewing Factories for over 30 years. After working those years, Carrie still saw a need, so she assumed the role of Church Custodian for another 30 years. She took great pride in her work.

Even though Carrie never had a driver’s license, she got to the church and anywhere else she and Aunt Rayal needed to go. Carrie was known to be a back seat driver and the only time her eyes were closed was when the driver crossed over a bridge with a large body of water. She was a loving and caring mother to her girls and her son George before his death in 1995. A loving grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, she had compassion for her family and friends. Words cannot express the fruits of the spirit she spread in the lives of everyone she met.

Carrie will truly be missed working on the Boyce, Beasley and Rountree Family Reunion Committee, President of the Greater Welch’s Chapel Senior Citizens Ministry and also a faithful member of the Usher Board that she has served on since she was 14 years old.

Carrie leaves to cherish her memory and continue her walk of faith, her  two beloved daughters: Minister Nina Holley-Rogers of Wendell, NC and Wynette Evans (William) of Winfall, NC. She was the proud and loving grandmother of  five grandchildren: Shreeka (C.J.), Dominic (Ashley), Dwane Deante, David, and Danielle; and the adored great-grandmother of  Jamiere, Pierre, Brayden, Princeton, Pryce, and Destinee. Her love and guidance will forever remain in their hearts.

She also leaves to celebrater her life three loving sisters, Ruth Rountree, Rayal Dillard, and Minnie Britt; two devoted brothers: Thurman Rountree (Miranda) and George Rountree (Ida); along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, dear friends, and her beloved church family, all of whom were blessed by her unwavering love and gentle spirit. .

Carrie was preceded in death by her beloved son, George Jordan; her mother, Viola Rountree; her sister, Lois Walton and her brothers, McCoy Rountree, Lewis Rountree, and Floyd Rountree. Though they welcomed her into eternal rest, her memory will forever remain a treasured blessing to those she leaves behind.

Carrie leaves a rich and enduring legacy  of kindness, generosity, compassion, and unwavering love. She embraced God's command found in John 13:34-25 (NIV): "Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." This Christ-centered love was evident in the life she lived each day and in the example she shared along side her beloved sister, Rayal. Together, they demonstrated genuine love and compassion to their children, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, church family, and all whose lives they touched. Her life reflected the love of Christ, and her legacy of faith, service, and selfless giving will continue to inspire generations to come.

Viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, July 3 at the funeral home from 4-7 pm.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Greater Welch's Chapel Baptist Church.
