Charlene Walker Sunrise: March 18, 1987 — Sunset: July 17, 2025
Charlene Yvette Walker, age 38, was called home to be with the Lord the night of July 17, 2025. Charlene was a beacon of light to everyone who knew her, full of joy, compassion, and unwavering faith. She lived a life filled with purpose, love, and laughter. She had a smile that could warm the coldest day and a spirit that lifted every room she entered. Her gentle soul and kind heart were a reflection of God’s love here on earth. Charlene’s life was defined by her love for learning and her dedication to serving others. She earned a Master’s Degree in both Education and Business Administration, a testament to her intelligence, perseverance, and passion for making a difference. For 18 years, she devoted her time and talents to educating children of all ages. Whether in the classroom or in the community, Charlene poured her heart into helping young minds grow, always encouraging them to reach higher and believe in their God-given potential. Charlene was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother Martha Leach and paternal grandfather William Walker Sr. Though their earthly presence is missed, we rejoice in knowing they are now reunited in Heaven, wrapped in eternal peace. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted parents, Charles and Paula Walker. Her grandparents, Miriam Walker, and Tracey Lane (Margaret). She was a proud and loving mother to her greatest blessing, her daughter Harmony Gatling, who was the light of her life and the source of her strength. A beloved sister to LaShonda Walker and Shawanda Smith (Michael). A cherished aunt to Kaylee Lane, Gracie Smith, and Warren Smith III, who brought endless joy to her life and who she referred to as her "broke best friends." She will also be deeply missed by her special friend and bonus family, Bobby Collins, Kevon Beasley, and Schardi Blow (Gary). A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Charlene found joy in the simple things, laughing with family, and sharing smiles even on her hardest days. Her faith never wavered, and she often reminded others of God’s promises, even when facing trials of her own. She believed in the power of prayer, the beauty of kindness, and the comfort of grace. She truly was a woman after God’s own heart. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Charlene is resting safely in the arms of our Savior. Her race is run, her journey is complete, and her crown of righteousness has been received. As the scriptures remind us in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Her light will never dim, for the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the faith she lived by will continue to shine through us all.
