Charles L. Griffin, Sr.

Charles Leroy Griffin, Sr, 58 was born March 14, 1966 in Newark New Jersey to the late Johnnie Mae Cherry Griffin, and Thomas Jefferson Griffin (TJ). Charles’ journey on this earth came to a peaceful end on March 30, 2024. 

He attended Gates County High and was a graduate of the class of 1985. He joined Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church, Corapeake, NC at early age. Charles was affectionately known as Charlie Boy, CharCee and Macadoius. He worked as a chef at various locations, lastly the Huddle House. He was a very loveable guy and would always keep you dancing and laughing. Charcee was family focused and always had a smile no matter what. He was labeled as an awesome Chef, creating his own recipes and teaching others at various establishments throughout the years and would not let you forget it. He had his own witty personality, antics and catchphrases, one in particular “CLG family is all we got”. CharCee was a die-hard Dallas cowboy fan, and would argue you down in a minute. He had the joy that can never be replaced even through his battles.  Known for his impeccable sense of style, he took pride in dressing to impress, leaving a lasting impression wherever he went.  He will surely be missed. 

He leaves his cherished memories of his children Sheena Goodman, Charles Jr, Kira Michael and Xavier Griffin, two grandchildren Jalisa Thornton and Journii Griffin. His siblings, Johnette Harris (Joe) of Gates, NC, Gloria Griffin of Suffolk Va., Sherry Reid (William) of Corapeake, NC, Michael Griffin (Regina) and Corey Griffin (Lisa) both of Egg Harbor Township, NJ,  Lenora Cabral (Armantino) of Cheshire, CT, Gary Griffin of E. Orange, NJ, Tyrone Harrell of Corapeake, NC, Brenda Boone, of Irvington, NJ, Denise Scott (Cleveland) of Corapeake, NC , Tommy Boone of Portsmouth, Va., Barry Boone (Sinethea) of Suffolk Va. Three aunts Chavis Riddick (Melvin) of Riverhead, NY, Emma Riddick (Linwood) Gates, NC and Menella Brooks (Johnny) of Corapeake, NC. His long time companion, Peggy Wilkins of Franklin, Va., Best friend Ronald Roberts of Atlantic City, NJ and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
