Clarice Elizabeth White Smith was born October 13, 1954, to Andrew and Rosa Mae Pruden White. She was the youngest of thirteen children and affectionately known to her family as "Lil Ciss" and/or Aunt "Cissy". She was a 1973 graduate of Gates County High and worked 20 plus years for Cintas.
At an early age, she became a member of First Baptist of Gates, and became a Deaconess of her church where she was highly devoted and continued to spread the word of the Lord. She met the love of her life, Willie and they joined in marriage on December 25, 1984. Some of her hobbies were completing crossword puzzles, singing, writing poetry, playing spades, and rooting for her favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys.
Clarice was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Rosa Mae Pruden White; six sisters: Emma, Truemella, Fannie, Dorothy, Lillie Mae, and Sallie; five brothers: Ike, Andrew Jr., Lyndell, Robert, John, and Sam. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters -in-law: JoAnne and Ella and two brothers-in-law: Floyd and Willie.
She leaves to cherish precious memories her husband of thirty-nine years, Willie Smith of the home and a god daughter Tiffany White of Murfreesboro NC; her mother-in-law, Ella Smith of Gatesville NC.; her sisters- in-law: Sara Holley (Edison) and Annie Whitman (Clarke) both of Trenton, New Jersey, Rosemary Davis (Stewart) and Zanetta Peele both of Key West Florida, Ella Holley of Elizabeth City, NC, Tonya Jones (Hurley) and Dora Pruden both of Gates, NC, Emma Knight of Roduco, NC and Lillie Owens-White of Murfreesboro, NC.; her brothers-in-law: David Peele, Johnny Peele and Charles Peele (Clarissa) all of Key West FL, Emmerick Smith of Gatesville, NC, David Smith of Suffolk VA, and Walter Smith of Gates, NC.; a special "sister" Betty Stewart of Suffolk, VA.; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 26th from 3 pm - 6 pm at the Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Gates Church.
