Claude Hawk

Claude Edward Hawk, 97 years old, of Savage Road Corapeake, NC departed Monday, May 8, 2023. He was a native of Corapeake, and the son of the late Collie and Florine Hawk. He was preceded in death by his late wife, Agnes Hawk and his two sons; Roosevelt Hawk and Jonathan Hawk; sisters, Lola Crawford, Sadie Ralph, Willie Mae Jenkins, Pauline Hawk, Bessie Hawk, and Carlether Jones; brothers Ernest Lee Hawk, Isaac Junior Hawk, Sr. and Hurley Hawk.

He was employed with Pen Gatling Company at the age of 18, which where he also retired. He was a hard and dedicated worker for over 50 years cutting and throwing trees. He was well known for being a tree thrower because he threw them with ease. He was a member of New Middle Swamp Missionary Baptist Church of Corapeake, NC. He was a beloved brother, father, uncle, grandfather, a great grandfather and a friend to many.

He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted son, Author Hawk of Corapeake NC, James Hawk (Libby), of Suffolk, VA, Edward Arline (Dorothy), of Suffolk, VA, a daughter; Josephine Cofield and granddaughter Wanda Cofield of Edenton NC, ten grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; sisters; Margaret Hawk of Corapeake, NC and Erma Lee Hawk Moore of Corapeake, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews family and friends.

A viewing and visitation will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 4 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 1:00 PM at New Middle Swamp Missionary Baptist Church, Corapeake. Mr. Hawk's final resting place will be at New Middle Swamp Missionary Baptist Church cemetery.
