Cleo Riddick Knight was born in Corapeake, NC on March 23, 1954 to the late Cleo P. and Joseph S. Riddick, Sr. On Thursday, July 31,2025, the place the Lord had prepared for Cleo was ready and He received her unto Himself.
Cleo received her formal education in Gates County and graduated from Gates County High School in 1972. After high school, Cleo had a passion for sewing and became a seamstress. She continued her passion until retirement.
In 1974, Cleo married Robert Lee Knight. To this union three children were born.
At the age of 7 years old, Cleo received Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined New Middle Swamp Baptist Chruch.
Through her vast travels of being a military wife, Cleo held on to her faith and joined several churches. Once settled in Sumter, SC Cleo found and joined Walker Chapel Baptist Church under the great leadership of Pastor Damon . Cleo remained a faithful member until her health began to decline.
Cleo was preceded in death by her parents, Cleo and Joseph S Riddick Sr. Three brothers:Joseph Jr, William Alton and Delmar Riddick 2 sisters: Delois Hall and Bessie Douglas and her formal spouse Robert L. Knight. 2 sisters in law and 1 brother in law.
Cleo leaves to cherish wonderful memories with her three beautiful children Gregory L and Micheal D Knight of Sumter, SC and Jalicia A. Knight of Columbia, SC. Three grandchildren: Maurice Knight, Arterial Knight and Shamyia Fordham-Knight all of Sumter, SC, 5 sisters: Ola (Richard) Brown, Mary Baker, and Helen (Charlie) Hardie of Gatesville, NC Cynthia (Arnold) Hall of Sunbury NC and Doris Riddick of Corapeake, one brother, C. Bruce Riddick of Methuen, MA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
A viewing and visitation will take place on Friday August 8, 2025, at the funeral home from 12 noon to 3pm.
A celebration of Life service will be on Saturday August 9, 2025, 11am at New Middle Swamp Baptist Church.
Final resting place will be in the New Middle Swamp Church Cemetery.
