Collis Melvin Riddick was born on April 9, 1930 in Gatesville, NC to Collis and Mary Matthews Riddick. He departed this life on Friday December 20, 2019 at Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital.
Collis was affectionately known as “Bread” or “Cornbread” by his family and friends.
Bread was very young when he entered Into the work force. He worked for Pot Cowper and Ashton Lewis Logging for over 50 years combined.
He professed his love for Christ and joined Lebanon Grove Baptist Church at an early age.
He was a loving and committed husband, father, and grandfather. He was married to his wife Sarah Bonner for 55 years before her passing in 2004.
He has three surviving sisters Irene Arline, Essie Bonaparte, and Lucille Knight all of Waterbury, Ct. He was preceded in death by his sisters Beulah Knight and Dorothy Walton and his brothers Albert Matthews, Carlton Riddick, Forest Riddick, and Thomas Riddick.
He leaves to cherish his memory; A daughter Carolyn Bellamy of Gatesville, NC; three grandchildren Carla Jones, James Derrick Bellamy, and Tamara and Joseph Gardner.
He leaves 7 great grandchildren KJ, Lil’ D, Daysha, Kima, Juwaun, Ajaee, and Autumn Rayne; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. We all adored him.

A visitation will take place on Thursday Dec. 26, 2019 from 4-7pm at the funeral home. A celebration of Life will be held on Friday Dec. 27, 2019 12 noon at Lebanon Grove Baptist Church
