Curtis M. Jones

Curtis Marvee Jones was born June 15, 1936, in Gates County, NC to the late Samuel L. and Gladys Griffin Jones. He was called to eternal rest on September 19, 2022, in Gates County.

He joined Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church at a young age and was a graduate of T.S. Cooper High School in Gates County. He had been employed as a welder at Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

In 1958, he was joined in marriage to the late Laura Etta Delphine Gatling. To this union, two children were born.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Lennie L. Jones and grandson; Delvin L. Jones.

He is survived by daughters; Chonita Jones Hargrave of Chesapeake, VA and Marveen A. Jones of Boykins, VA.; three brothers: Samuel E. Jones (Elsie) and Jerry Jones (Algetha) both of Washington, DC and Delano Jones (Diane) of Chesapeake, VA; four grandchildren: Kenay Jones-Sykes, Delta Jones, Jordan Hargrave and Morgan Hargrave; one great grandchild, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

A viewing and visitation will take place Sunday September 25, 2022, from 3pm- 6pm at the Funeral Home.

A Funeral Service to celebrate a beautiful life will take place Monday September 26, 2022, 1pm at Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church, Corapeake, NC.

Final resting place will be at the Zion Tabernacle Church Cemetery.
