Derrick J. Barnes

Derrick Jermaine Barnes, the son of Bernard and Joyce Barnes, was born on August 1, 1981 in Como, NC . He departed his earthly life on Monday, September 6, 2021 at his residence in Elizabeth City, NC.

Derrick was educated in Hertford County Public Schools and was a 1999 graduate.

He was joined in holy matrimony to Yolanda Barnes on July 28, 2012.

Derrick was employed at Serco Inc. as an Electronic Technician.

Derrick leaves to cherish his memory; his loving wife, Yolanda Barnes; his children, Jayden Barnes, Joshua  Outlaw and Justin Riddick of the home.

Also left to cherish his memory is a loving mother, Joyce Barnes and father Bernard Barnes; sister, Miranda Barnes all of Como, NC; four aunts, Estella Hart (Willie) of Woodland, NC, Elsie Everett of Mitchellville, MD, Mary Stephenson of Como, NC, and Cynthia Banks of Murfreesboro, NC; one uncle, Johnnie Barnes (Zenda) of Conyers, GA; mother-in-law, Evelyn Askew (Samuel) of Gatesville, NC; two brothers-in-law, Shawn Manley (Monica) of Churchland, VA, Michael Manley of Gatesville, NC; special friends, Justin White, Robin White, Stanley Parker, and Juanita White, along with a host of cousins and friends.

A walk through viewing will take place on Saturday September 11, 2021 at his home church from 4:00pm-6:00pm.  First Baptist Church 230 US Hwy 158 Bus.  Murfreesboro, NC 27855.

On Sunday at 3:00pm a Celebration of Life will take place at Carver Park Cemetery, Murfreesboro, NC
