Doreatha Riddick

Doreatha Riddick daughter of Josephine RIddick and the late Lawrence Riddick Sr., she was born on June 23, 1956 in Norfolk, VA. She departed this life on February 16, 2023 at Hyattsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hyattsville, MD. Doreatha was educated in Gates County Public School System for 12 years. In 1978 she moved to Washington , DC. She was employed at Garfield Elementary School for 2 years before working at ASTA Travel Agency as a mail clerk for 16 years. After leaving there, she became a stay at home mom at took care of her family.. Doreatha or Dot Dot as her son would call her, loved her kids deeply and unconditionally!! Doreatha enjoyed hanging out every weekend at different casinos with her sister in law, regardless if she won or lost, she would always go back. She also enjoyed socializing and having a good time with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by everyone that knew her. Doreatha leaves to treasure her precious memories, her mother, Josephine Riddick of Gates County, NC; her son Dwane Riddick (Tameka) of Laurel, MD; her daughter Josephine Shifflette of Alexandria, VA; her two grandson’s Jayden Riddick of Waldorf, MD and Nasia Jones of Laurel, MD; her granddaughter Trinity Shifflette of Alexandria, VA; two brothers and two sister in laws, Lawrence (Ella) Riddick Jr. of Oxon Hill, MD; George (Karen) Riddick of Washington, DC and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday March 11, 2023, at 11:00am at Joppa Missionary Baptist Church.  A viewing and visitation will take place on Friday March 10, 2023, from 3:00pm-6:00pm at the funeral home.
