Dorothy Holley Hare was born in Gates County, NC on August 21, 1947 to the late Luther C. and Eula V. Evans. On Tuesday, December 24, 2024, the Lord called Dorothy home surrounded by her loved ones.
Dorothy joined New Middle Swamp Baptist Church at an early age, where she gave her life to Christ. Currently, Dorothy was a member of Gale Street Baptist Church in Edenton, NC where she served on the deaconess board.
Dorothy graduated from Central High School in 1965. Following graduation, her passion for sewing led her to her first job at Don Juan in Hertford, NC. She later worked at Alamac in Ahoskie, NC. For 19 years, Dorothy dedicated herself to Carolina Home Care in Ahoskie, NC, serving as a personal care aide. She concluded her career with Title V in Elizabeth City, NC.
Dorothy was a compassionate and selfless individual, always willing to help those in need. She freely gave her love and time, never turning anyone away.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, James (Jim) Jackson; two daughters, Sandy Holley Watford (Tracy) of Gatesville, NC and Carla Holley Hendrix (Donald) of Sunbury, NC; two sons, Horace Holley, Jr. of Gatesville, NC and Terrance Holley (Chantel) of Chesapeake, VA; 12 grandchildren: Lamek (Urmila), Jamel (Aubree), Tia, Karnekia, Destiny, Imani, Tristan, Chavalia (German), Deontae, Palar, Zion, Christian; 11 great grandchildren; three sisters, Rachael Gatling and Ella Beamon of Sunbury, NC and Delois Smith of Gatesville, NC; two special friends, Nancy Wells and Paulette Waters, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A viewing and visitation will take place on Saturday Dec. 28, 2024, from 4pm to 7pm at the funeral home.
A celebration of Life will take place on Sunday Dec. 29, 2024, 230pm at Upper Room Assembly Church.
Final resting place will be at the Holley Family Cemetery, in Gatesville, NC.
