Dorothy V. Knight

On Wednesday, July 28, 2021, Dorothy Virginia Knight was called to her heavenly home. She was born on December 29, 1969 to the late Dorothy Lean Knight and was later raised by the late Fannie Alene Cross and the late Roland Cross.

A life long resident of Gates County, Dorothy attended Gates County Public Schools. She was a proud graduate of Gates County High School Class of 1988.

She was employed at Wal-Mart in the bakery department until her health failed.

Dorothy was well known to many people and her radiant smile would light up a room. She had a spirit of compassion and servanthood, which was displayed in her love of inviting people into her home and feeding them. She enjoyed cooking and having gatherings for family and friends.

Dorothy had a great passion for racing and during her spare time she enjoyed being at the racetrack.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a fiancé, Charles Knight of the home, two sisters; Yvonne Cross of Gates, NC and Joyce Young of Memphis, TN; three brothers, William (Barbara Jean) Knight of Gates, NC, Thomas Knight of Gatesville, NC and Ronald (Barbara) Knight of Gates, NC; a caregiver, Christine Knight; three godchildren, Krystal Knight of Gates, NC, Emmanuel Knight of Eure, NC and Quedesia White of Eure, NC; two godsisters, Frances Chamblee of Sunbury and Emma Knight of Eure, NC; a dear friend, Javonna Britt, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A viewing and visitation will take place Sunday August 1, 2021 from 3-6pm at the funeral home.  

A celebration of life will take place on Monday August 2, 2021 12 noon at Upper Room Assembly Church, Gatesville, NC.  Final resting place will be at New Piney Wood Chapel Church Cemetery, Gates, NC.
