Ernestine T. Bond, affectionately known to many as “Ma-ma” and to others as “Tine”, was born on September 25, 1934 to the late Rufus and Sarah Lassiter.
At a very early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. She served faithfully there as a missionary until her health declined.
Living a fruitful life of longevity, she served as a loving housewife and a reliable babysitter to nearly every child in the neighborhood. The unselfish love she had for children was impeccable. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for anybody. Her missionary duties extended beyond the walls of the church and were exemplified in the ways she cared for others.
Ernestine was called to heaven on August 22, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Linwood T. Bond; four brothers, Thaddeus Lassiter, Rev. Algernon Lassiter, Russell Lassiter, and Sylvester Lassiter; one sister, Alvertine Lassiter.
Left to cherish a lifetime of memories is her two sons: Anthony Bond (Phyllis) and Linwood C. Bond of Sunbury, N.C.; two daughters: Cynthia McClinton of the home, and Tammy Eason (Brian) of Sunbury, NC; one sister, Naomi Howell of Portsmouth, Va., 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive members of the community on Wednesday August 26, 2020 from 4:00pm-.7:00pm at the funeral home. A celebration of life will take place on Thursday August 27, 2020 at 12:00pm at St. John AME Zion Church for a graveside service.
