George T Griffin

George Thomas Griffin, 64 was born March 25, 1957 in Ahoskie, NC to the late Johnnie Mae Cherry Griffin and Thomas Jefferson Griffin (TJ). George passed through this life into eternal rest on June 22, 2021. George affectionally known as “ GT” was an avid carpenter and faithful follower of the Philadelphia Eagles. George attended Gates County High School and a graduate of the class of 1975. He worked in Philadelphia as a taxi driver and courier, and retired from the Smithfield Packing Plant, Smithfield, Va., GT mastered the sport of basketball and was an awesome player. He loved people and was helpful to anyone that needed him.

George joined Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church at an early age and rededicated his life.

George leaves to cherish his most fond memories of his only son George D. Griffin (Lil G) whom he was head over heels about and enjoyed being a DAD.  His siblings: Johnette Harris (Joe), of Gates, NC, Gloria Griffin and Sherry Reid (William) of Suffolk, Va, Michael Griffin (Gina) and Corey Griffin (Lisa) of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, Charles Griffin of Franklin, Va, Lenora Cabral (Armantino) of Cheshire, CT, Richard Goodman, Waterbury, CT, Gary Griffin of E. Orange, NJ, Tyrone Harrell of Corapeake, NC, Brenda Boone of Irvington, Denise Scott (Cleveland) of Corapeake, NC, Tommy Boone and Barry Boone (Sinethea) of Portsmouth, Va., Three aunts Chavis Riddick (Melvin) Riverhead, NY, Emma Riddick (Linwood), Gates, NC and Menella Brooks (Johnny) Corapeake, NC, one uncle Arthur Boone of Suffolk, Va., his companion Brenda Norfleet of Corapeake, a very special friend Tom Howard and a host of nieces and nephews family and friends.

The viewing will be held Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 3:00pm to 6:00 pm and the family hour 2:00pm- 3:00pm at the Community of Hope Funeral Home, 357 Hobbsville Rd, Hobbsville, NC 27946. A graveside service will be held Friday, July 2, 2021, 1:00 p.m. at Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1261 NC Highway 32 Corapeake, NC 27926
