Gloria J Hinton

Gloria Jean Hinton was born January 11, 1958, in Gates, North Carolina. She departed this life on Friday, November 8, 2024, at the age of 66 at her home with her husband by her bedside in Corapeake, North Carolina. She is predeceased by her father William “Sweetpea” Issac Porter, Sr., two brothers William (Little Bubba) Issac Porter, Jr. and David Lowell Porter.

Gloria is known for working in the fast-food industry. Bojangles in Ahoskie, North Carolina was the last fast-food chain she employed with. She worked there for numerous years. Gloria loved her family. She enjoyed picking kale salad and turnips in the family garden in Boonetown. She enjoyed her many long walks on Middle Swamp Road, the road on which she resided. Anyone who knew her knew of her love for her family; it was immeasurable. Gloria was a sweet spirit that is sure to be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

She leaves to cherish her memories to her husband, Julius Hinton, Corapeake, NC; three children, Lelita (Charles) Valentine, Gates, NC, Justin (Stephanie) Hinton, Tucson, AZ, Monisha Hinton, Corapeake, NC; her mother, Madge Porter, Gates, NC;  five sisters, Eunice Mitchell Ahoskie, NC, Sarah (Ivan) Porter, Ahoskie, NC, Alice (Jessie) Peele, Bertie, NC, Joleatha (John) Chestnut, Ahoskie, NC, Marion (Martin) Parker, Roduco, NC; two brothers, Douglas Porter, Georgia and Richard Porter, Gates, NC, fifteen grandchildren, Aalyiah Valentine (Joshua), Aalanah Valentine (Daeqwan), Aaja Valentine (Keymondre), Charles Valentine “CJ”, Carter Valentine, Kamari Hinton, Viara Hinton, Justin Hinton, Jr, Ja’Mareon Hinton, JaQuan Hinton, Jayvion Hinton, JaShawn Hinton, Ja’Miah Hinton, Jy’Zhire Hinton, Josiah Hinton; and five great grandchildren, Aubrey Booker, DaiLani Horton, Aadaiah Horton, Jymir Bunch and Josh Bradshaw; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday November 16, 2024, 2pm at Community of Hope Funeral Service.
