Gloria Mae Norman

 Gloria Mae Humphrey Robinson Norman peacefully put on her wings and passed away on March 21, 2021. She was born on August 17, 1943 in Jacksonville, NC., daughter of the Late Henry Lawrence Humphrey and Vera Jeanette (Pollock) Humphrey also of Jacksonville, NC. Attended Georgetown High School. She was a loving, caring, patient, giving person to all that knew her. Her love of family, church and friends radiated in her smile. She unselfishly gave so much of herself to anyone in need, free from judgement and requested nothing in return. She was everyone’s Mom, friend and Aunt Glo Mae. She loved reading, puzzles, game shows and music. She always looked to find the best in everyone and was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren.

Before retiring, she worked for New Departure (General Motors) and Anamet.

She was a devoted member of Zion Baptist Church for 25 years from 1973 to 1998. She served on the Usher Board as Treasurer. In 1998 she and her husband, Haywood Norman, relocated to Sunbury, NC where she joined New Middle Swamp Missionary Baptist Church where she also served as a Deaconess and as a Missionary.

Left to cherish her memories: a loving husband, Haywood Norman, her children Sheila Robinson-Butler (Len) Chonita Robinson-Lofton (Garry) and Cynthia Robinson, 7 Grandchildren, ( Shante, Lance, Henry Jr., Chanel, Lawanda, Briana, Tanaya) and 17 Great Grandchildren. Brother in Law Claude Porter of New Jersey, Larry Robinson (Alfreda), Harvey Robinson (Elois) Joel Robinson (Vernell) Sister in laws, Brenda Humphrey, Vivian Robinson, Lorraine Underwood, Doris Newkirk, Pauline Henry (James)

Her bonus children - Vernica Robinson-Farrer, Natasha Carmichael, Lisa Maye, Fredrick Maye, Willie Morgan, Vonda Godette, Michael Norman and a host of Bonus Grandchildren and great grandchildren. 100+ nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was predeceased by her Brothers; Arthur Lee Humphrey, Adolph Humphrey (Jean), Nathaniel Humphrey, Henry Lee Humphrey,

A viewing and visitation will take place on Sunday March 28, 2021 from 1:00pm-4:00pm at the funeral home.  A graveside service will be held at New Middle Swamp Baptist Church on Monday March 29, 2021 at 12:00pm.

The family will receive friends and family at  163 Gatling Rd. , Sunbury, NC 27979.
