Hattie Lugrader Norman was called to her eternal rest on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. She was born on December 20, 1930 in Corapeake, North Carolina, the twelfth child and only daughter of the late Reverend Daniel and Hattie Skinner Mullen. She was educated in the Gates County school system and graduated in 1948 from T.S. Cooper High School.
Hattie accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was a long-time member of Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church, serving as a Missionary and Deaconess. She relocated to Greensboro, North Carolina in 2015 and joined Resurrection Fellowship United Holy Church under watch care. She was a well loved mother of that church. She worked for 30 years as a Home Health Aid for the Virginia Department of Health in Suffolk, VA. In 1952 she married the love of her life, George Solomon Norman. They were married for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, George Solomon Norman, twelve brothers, and daughter, Mannie Viola (Norman) Riddick. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Patricia (Daryl) Donnell of Greensboro, NC; two sons, William Solomon (Melinda) Norman of Gates, NC, and Daniel (Brenda) Norman of Duluth, GA; one brother-in-law, James Walter Norman of Suffolk, VA; seven grandchildren, Brian (Tiffany) Donnell of Duncan, SC, Brandon Donnell of Arden, NC, William Jonathan Norman of Gates, NC, Miya Harmon of Rock Hill, SC, Kimberly (Atiba) Marshall of Alexandria, VA, Daniel Norman Jr. of Norman, OK and Jacari Hopkins of Atlanta, GA; two great grandchildren, Kierra and Kaeden Donnell of Duncan, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A viewing and visitation will be held on Sunday December 1, 2024, at the funeral home from 3pm to 6pm.
Funeral services will be held on Monday December 2, 2024, 11am at Zion Tabernacle Church. The family invites all who knew and loved Hattie to join them in celebrating her remarkable life.
