Henry B. Walton

Our father, Henry B. Walton, 100 years old was born on March 15, 1922 to Virginia Boone and Ed Walton.

He attended school in Gates County. He enlisted and served in the United States Army for five years. In 1954, he married Mary Walton. He worked in the log woods for many years and then he moved his family to New York and worked in retail at Herman’s Sporting Goods for many years until his retirement.

In 1975, he gave his life to Christ. In 1990, he moved back to his hometown, Gates County where he became a member of Apostolic Holiness Church under the leadership of Bishop Robert K. Knight. Years later, he moved his membership to Mission of Hope Church under the leadership of Pastor Virginia Ruffin. He remained active at church until he moved with his great grandson. He then became active at Shining Light Ministry under the leadership of Pastor Nancy Donnell. He remained with his great grandson until God called him home.

He was the father of  10 children; three preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories to his seven   children and one stepdaughter: Virginia (John) Gadsden, Larry Walton, Minnie Walton, George Baines, Michael Walton, Della (Charles) Boone, Shirley Baines, and Georgia Mae (Johnny) Roberson; one brother, James (Julia) Walton, three brothers-in-law: Mack Leary, David Leary, William Leary; two sisters-in-law: Barbara Leary and Ann Leary; his caretakers; granddaughter, Zeltanya Ruffin and great grandson, Kevin and his wife, Michaella Walton; his great great granddaughter, Nova Walton; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A viewing and visitation will take place Friday September 2, 2022, from 4pm-7pm at the funeral home.

A funeral service to celebrate 100yrs will take place on Saturday September 3, 2022, 12 noon at Upper Room Assembly Church in Gatesville, NC.

Mr. Walton final resting place will be at the Dildy Family Cemetery in Gates, NC.
