James R Figgs, III

The staff of Community of Hope Funeral Service sends condolences to the family of James R. Figgs III of Hobbsville, NC. 

James Raleigh Figgs, III affectionately known as "Jimmy" was born on November 20, 1975 and departed this life on April 1, 2017.  He attended Gates County Public Schools and graduated in 1993.  After graduation, he joined the United States National Guard and later found employment at Alfiniti in Winton, NC.  He was employed at Alfiniti for 17 years as a machine operator.

At the age of 13, Jimmy accepted Christ as his personal savior and continued to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.  He had a passion for tractor trailer trucks, music and animals.  His mother vividly recalls the time that he was able to sneak 6 newborn kittens along with their mother into his room.  Hearing the meows of the kittens was extremely funny and has a lasting impression.

Preceding him in death was his father, James Raleigh Figgs, II.

Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Evon Eason of Hobbsville, brother, Philip Figgs (Tannilla Williams) of Portsmouth, VA; sister, Sylvia F. Williams (Lorenzo) of Ahoskie, NC; one niece, Kianna Hendricks whom he was especially proud of; grandmother, Ellen Eason of Hobbsville; stepmother, Lisa Figgs of Edenton, NC; two step sisters, Shaeasha and Teresa Beasley; aunts, Wendy Smith (Daniel) of Gates; Stephanie Eason of Hobbsville, NC, Haley Curry of Roosevelt, NY, Carolyn Kirksey (Neal) of Elizabeth City, NC; uncles, Edward Eason, Jr. of Hobbsville, NC,  Harold Figgs of Roosevelt, NY,  Winfred Figgs (Sue) of NY, Thomas Figgs (Nancy) of Gatesville, NC and Larry Figgs (Shirleen) of Corapeake, NC along with a host of cousins and friends.

Mr. Figgs went to his eternal rest on April 1, 2017.  His funeral service will be held on Sunday April 9, 2017 at 2:00pm at Joppa Missionary Baptist Church.  The burial will take place immediately after the service at Figgs Family Cemetery in Hobbsville, NC.
