James Reginald Holley

Mr. James R. Holley, Sr. better known as "Reginald" was born on March 17, 1957 to James and Daisy Holley of Gates, NC.  James departed from this life on November 1, 2019 in Greenville, NC at the age of 62.

At an early age James joined Blanchard Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Hobbsville, NC.  He attended Gates County Public Schools, and later started his career at Newport News Shipbuilding for several years.  James was currently employed with Eastern Carolina Vocational Center in Greenville, NC where he will be greatly missed.

James enjoyed working on cars, home improvement and cooking.  He also loved playing cards with family and friends, and just enjoying life.  He also enjoyed watching football.  His favorite sports team was the Minnesota Vikings and his favorite basketball team was the Los Angeles Lakers.

James was proceeded in death by two brothers, David W. Holley, Wallace E. Holley, and one sister Patricia Annette Holley.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his parents James C. and Daisy Holley of Gates, NC; one daughter Yolanda P. Holley of Sunbury, NC, two sons; Eshimon W. Holley (Lekisha) of Gatesville, NC; James R. Holley, Jr. (Gertrude) of Sunbury, NC; eighteen grandchildren, one great grand. One special sister Paula Walker (Charles), one special brother Crandall C. Holley (Pamela) of NC; two uncles Herman Holley (Doris Jean) of Hobbsville, NC, Warren Holley of Gatesville, NC, one niece Sheria Holley of Hobbsville, NC; and a host of other family members and friends.

The family will receive members of the community on Thursday November 7, 2019 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm at the funeral home.  A celebration of life will take place on Friday November 8, 2019 at 1:00pm at the Upper Room Assembly Gatesville, NC.  His final resting place will be at The Holley Family Cemetery Gatesville, NC
