James Parker Obituary

James Alvin Parker was born in Gates County on May 12, 1960 to the late James William "Nackie" Parker and Jessie Blanchard Parker.

On Wednesday, September 23, 2020, the Lord called James, whom many knew as "Alvin" home while on a work assignment in Sampson County, NC.

During his younger years, he attended Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Sunbury, NC. He also attended Gates County Public Schools and Job Corp.

He had a great love for Gospel Music, specifically Quartet Singing and shared his talent as a bass guitarist for a few Gospel Singing Groups.

He also had a passion for driving trucks and traveled thousands of miles carrying loads of flowers and produce north, south, east and west.

Prior to this last employer which was J. Parker Produce Company in Sunbury, NC, he was a truck driver for Leary’s Plant Farm in Edenton, NC. He also worked at Chowan Hospital in Edenton, NC.

He leaves to cherish his memories: His Mother - Jessie B. Parker of Edenton, NC, One Sister - Antoinette Holley (William) of Tyner, NC, one niece – LaKisha H. Wright (Robert) of Edenton, NC, two nephews – (Derrick & Chauncey) of Tyner, NC, great-nieces, a great nephew, a Special Friend - Florida Sutton of Edenton, NC and a host of other relatives and friends

 

A viewing and visitation will be held on Monday September 28, 2020 from 3:00pm-6:00pm at the funeral home.  A celebration of life will take place on Tuesday September 29, 2020 at 12:00pm at Beaver Hill Cemetery in Edenton, NC.
