Mrs. Jessie Valentine Blanchard Parker, a native of Gates County, N.C., was born on June 12, 1939, to the late John Cleveland Blanchard and Eva Eure-Blanchard. She departed this life and entered into eternal rest on April 12, 2024, at Edenton Primetime Retirement Center in Edenton, N.C.
Mrs. Jessie Parker was often called, "Jack", "JB", "Jackie" or Ms. Jessie by her family and friends.
At an early age, she joined Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Sunbury, N.C. and attended for many years, prior to relocating to Chowan County, N.C.
She was married to the late Deacon James William Parker who was a member of Zion Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Corapeake, N.C.
She graduated from T. S. Cooper High School in Sunbury, N.C. in 1957 and completed an "Advanced Home Nursing" Program from College of The Albemarle, Elizabeth City, N.C. in 1974.
For many years, she worked as a Private-Duty Personal Care Assistant and also within a nursing home in Suffolk,Va. She also sold life insurance for Blair Funeral Home in Edenton, N.C. for several years.
Our Beloved, "Jessie Parker" loved riding out, dining at various restaurants, playing cards (no gambling), playing Bingo, and listening to Gospel Music. She attended several Gospel Services that were held at Edenton Primetime Retirement Center where she resided for the last 3 years.
In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by her son: James Alvin Parker; brothers: William Henry Blanchard, Daniel Blanchard, Whayelon Blanchard, James "Jim Eure", Thomas Eure, and Emmett Eure; sisters: Ella Mae Blanchard-Peterson, Lillie Dale Blanchard-Ralph, Edna Blanchard and Willie Frances Eure-Dildy.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a daughter, Antoinette Holley (William) of Tyner, NC; 3 grandchildren: Derrick Parker, Lakesha Wright, and Chauncey Holley. 4 great-granchildren: NaDearia, Essence, Kenzie, and Eric and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
A viewing and visitation will take place on Wednesday April 17, 2024, at the funeral home from 4pm to 7pm.
A celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday April 18, 2024, 12 noon at Beaver Hill Cemetery in Edenton, NC.
