John E. Silvers, Sr.

Mr. John Edward Silvers, 76, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 4, 2021.

He was born on September 5, 1945 to John and Helen Silvers in Bronx, NY.

He served his country well as a medic in the Vietnam War.

Migrating to Virginia, he was a jack of all trades, but retired from the City of Suffolk, where he worked in parks and recreation.

He was a master gardener, who loved Christmas, and enjoyed cooking, fishing, and listening to music. However, what he was most passionate about was spending time with his grandchildren, who he was very proud of.

He was a member of Community Church, where he served on the safety team.

He was preceded in  death by his mother, Helen and brother Louis.

He is survived by Felicia Silvers, and six sons: John (Lillian), Anthony, Pedro (Cleopatra), Brian (O’Nealia), Christian, and Marc, grandchildren; Peter “Manny”, Steven, Dieonte’, Destinee, Brian II, John Michael, Xavier, Sarah, Anthony, Mark II, Jonathan, Aurora, and Alexander, great grandchildren; Emilio, Shamari, Luca, and Egypt, his aunts and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A viewing and visitation will take place on Wednesday October 13, 2021 from 3:00pm-6:00pm at the funeral home.  A celebration of life will take place on Thursday October 14, 2021 at 3:00pm at Community Church in Suffolk, Virginia.  Mr. Silvers final resting place will be Albert G. Horton Veterans Cemetery.
