Joseph "Hero" Moody

Joseph Moody, son of the late Preston and Lilia Moody, was born April 15, 1948, in Gates County. He departed this life on July 22, 2023.

Joseph attended Gates County Public Schools. Uniting with  First Baptist Gates Church at an early age, Joseph remained a member until his passing. He was a kind and humble soul.

He worked as a truck driver and retired from Ashton Lewis’ Lumber Company in Gatesville, North Carolina. 

He was preceded in death by two children, Preston and Tammy Norman; three brothers, Jarvis, Jimmy, George and one sister, Aliza.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories to his wife, Carolyn Moody; two sons, Brian Moody of the home and Demond White (Kim) of Raleigh, North Carolina; one daughter, PFC Brianne Moody (Tatiana) of Killeen, Texas; two brothers, John Moody of Newport News, Virginia and Jeff Moody (Cynthia) of Gates, North Carolina; one sister, Lee Bell Eure of Gates, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Mary Saunders of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Cynthia Moody of Gates, North Carolina; two brothers-in-law, William and Arthur Pruden of the home, along with other relatives and friends.

A viewing and visitation will take place on Friday July 28, 2023, at the funeral home from 4pm- 7pm. 

A celebration of life for a beautiful soul well lived, will take place on Saturday July 29, 2023, 12 noon at First Baptist Church of Gates.

Final resting place for Mr. Moody will be at the First Baptist Family Cemetery.
