Karen Scott Obituary

Mrs. Karen Odessa (Alston) Scott, daughter of the late Gid and Mary Dee (Phipps) Alston was born August 8, 1959 in Littleton, NC. Karen and her family later moved to Virginia, where she attended Newport News and Hampton public schools. Karen was a graduate of Hampton High School, Class of 1978 and later attended Thomas Nelson Community College for Nursing.
After school, Karen had several jobs but was ultimately a painter at Newport News Shipbuilding (the Shipyard) for several years. She met her husband, Clifton Scott, in 1987 while working at the Shipyard. From their union, Karen and Clifton had three daughters: Kristy, Mary, and Kimberly.

Karen enjoyed shopping, hosting family dinners, and keeping an immaculate home. As a youth, Karen was a member of the First Church of Newport News but, after giving her life to Christ, Karen and Clifton became members of Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church in Corapeake, NC. Karen worshipped the Lord wholeheartedly by working as a missionary, singing in the choir, serving as a Deaconess and supporting the Women’s Ministry. She nurtured her family and served her community until the Lord peacefully called her home on February 2, 2020.

To cherish wonderful and loving memories, Karen leaves her husband - Clifton Scott of Corapeake, NC; three children - Kristy Scott of Hampton, VA; Mary Scott Williams (Lozie) of Suffolk, VA; and Kimberly Scott of Corapeake, NC; as well as three adorable grandchildren - Casin, Nora, and Serenity.
Karen also leaves behind her siblings - Marvin Alston, Rhonda Everett (Tyrone), Quinton Alston (Melody), and Gerri Alston-Meggett. She is cherished by numerous brothers and sisters in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
