Lakisa Gail Crouch, age 37 passed away at 3:44AM on Thursday, April 5th, 2018 in Norfolk, VA with her loving sisters by her side. From her birth, July 31, 1980 until her death she nourished people around her with love, faith, and music.
She was born at Roanoke Chowan hospital in Ahoskie, NC to Constance (Parker) Arline and the late Benjamin Savage. She was the fourth child of five born to Connie and was a light to many who came into contact with her. At a very young age, it was apparent that Gail was blessed with amazing singing talents and blessed others with her gift from a small child. Her grandmother Erma Lee formed the Parker Sisters group where Gail was the lead singer. As a member of Ballard’s Grove Baptist Church, she sang with the youth choir there, as well as at New Middle Swamp and First Baptist Roduco. From Childhood throughout adulthood she often appeared singing solo in schools, churches and even once auditioned for American Idol in DC, and made it to the second round.
After graduating from high school in 1998, determined to do things “in her own way”, she quickly began her adult journey while marrying Daniel Crouch and lived a great life as a military spouse, spending time in Florida, Fayetteville, NC, Fort Belvoir, VA and Columbia, SC. Her passion was children and in every state she was either an owner/operator of her own child care program (Bright Horizons ) or Lead teacher in an established Center. She was smart, passionate and dedicated to her craft and wanted to always make sure children were well taken care of. This same passion transferred to the love she showed to her 4 handsome sons, always looking for a way to interact with them through sports, bike rides, nature trails, and other fun! She was magnetic and was the fun house, the fun mom and fun aunt; She was the person who everyone wanted to be around, young and old.
Upon her passing she was an Office Assistant at Lee’s Insurance in Gatesville, NC and had also completed coursework at ITT Technical Institute (Criminal Justice).
Gail was a very beautiful, energetic, adventurous, caring, compassionate person, who loved her children, family, friends, and would talk and help anyone. She taught many of us how to love and to never judge a person.
Left to honor Gail and remember her love are four wonderful sons, Darian Crouch, Daine Crouch, Legend (Gabe) Lighty, and LeeLeen Parker, her mother Constance “Connie” Arline (Gates), Grandmother Erma Parker (Roduco,NC), Grandfather Robert Parker (Gatesville, NC), a brother, Sylvester Parker (Roduco, NC) three sisters, Regina Allen (Marcus) of Portsmouth, VA, Amanda Parker (Jermaine) of Suffolk, VA, Melissa Smith of Portsmouth, VA, a God Mother, Georgia “Marie” Deloatch (Roduco, NC), three nieces, four nephews, an ex-husband Daniel Crouch, and a special friend Daryl Jones (Gates, NC).
Gail will be remembered as the life of the party, always singing, dancing, and laughing. She was always making others smile and wanted others to have a good time.
