Marvin T. Lassiter, Sr., 44, of Sunbury, North Carolina departed his earthly life on December 10, 2017 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. Marvin T. Lassiter was born on November 22, 1973 to Ricky Wayne Lassiter and Josephine Davis Lassiter at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital in Suffolk, Va. He was educated in the Gates County Public School System and a proud graduate of the Class of 1992. He was a member of Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church where he served faithfully. Marvin was a certified diesel mechanic employed by Bagley's PM Inc., Perdue Inc., Coastal and S & D Trucking. He began his career of working on trucks at the tender young age of 15. When it came to trucks, he could fix anything. He could even problem shoot and give advice concerning trucks without actually being in your presence. After the diagnosis, he would have you rolling safely on your way. Many called upon him because they trusted his judgment, honesty, God-giving skills and expertise in the repair and maintenance of their vehicles and trucks. He serviced and provided maintenance for all the trucks of A R Lassiter Trucking Co., Inc., a business owned by him and his wife, until his health declined.
Marvin never met a stranger. He was friendly and loved by all. He gave unselfishly of his time and talent to anyone in need. He was known for his outgoing personality, wit, sense of humor and love for life. He kept you laughing and he kept it "REAL". His two favorite sayings were, "Right there 2 it" and "And I thank you".
On March 24, 2000, Marvin married his high school sweetheart, Anita C. Rountree. To this union, one son was born. Marvin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and grandson. He will be greatly missed.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 17 years, Anita R. Lassiter; son, Marvin Tyrone Lassiter, Jr.; grandson, Aidan J. Beamon; parents, Ricky & Josephine Lassiter of Sunbury, NC; brother, Anthony W. Lassiter (Angela) of Suffolk, Va; grandmother, Mary B. Lassiter of Hertford, NC; three uncles, Willie B. "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course,
I have kept the faith; Henceforth, there is laid up for me
a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge,
shall give me on that day.."
2nd Timothy 4:7-8
