“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes”
—Revelation 21:4a
On Thursday morning, December 3, 2020, God in His infinite wisdom dispatched an angel to Drum Hill Road
and escorted our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Mrs. Mary Louise Jones into her eternal rest.
“Lou” as she was affectionately called, was born on August 6, 1945 to the late Ms. Mary Cross Copeland and the late Mr. Rufus Copeland. Because of her mother’s death, when Louise was only 10 months old, she was reared by her maternal grandparents, the late Mr. Hilton and the late Mrs. MaLinda Cross, as their daughter.
She met and married her soul-mate and best friend as she often referred to, Mr. George Jones, Sr., who preceded her in death. To their union they were blessed with 5 children. Her “baby boy,” Tracy preceded them in death.
She was a member of the New Mt. Joy Food For Living Ministries where she served on the Mother’s Board.
She loved God, her family and all people, which was evident in the services she rendered. She loved to cook and feed
everyone, no matter the size of the crowd.
She leaves to cherish fond memories to her four children: George Jones, Jr. (Esther), Linda Reid (Dennis) of Gates, NC, David Jones (Malisa) of Lewiston, NC and Anthony Jones (Rochez) of Hampton, VA; three sisters; Mrs. Martha Beamon of Suffolk, VA, Mrs. Bernice Wiggins (Rev. David) and Mrs. Ida Rountree of Gates, NC; five brothers-in-law, seven sisters-in-law, 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive members of the community on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 from 3:00pm-6:00pm at the funeral home. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday December 9, 2020 at 12:00pm at New Mount Joy Church in Suffolk, Virginia.
