Michael Anthony Winslow “Mike” was born March 19, 1956, to the late Sarah Mae and Melton Rodgers Winslow, SR. in Hobbsville, NC. He attended Gates County High School, Class of ’75.
He met and married Maxine Nowell and through this union, he was blessed with three beautiful children. Michael later moved to Freeport, NY. He was extremely excited about life in The Big Apple, he always had a passion for singing/songwriting. Mike debuted at several nightclubs and even fulfilled one of his biggest dreams by performing on stage at the Apollo Théâtre.
Although singing was his passion, Michael went on to obtain his CDL’s which started his career in working with the New York State Department of Transportation until he retired in 2005. Shortly afterwards, he moved back to his hometown of Hobbsville, NC where he spent the remainder of his life. On Wednesday, January 12, 2022, Michael’s life transitioned, and he was called home to be with the Lord.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah, and Melton Winslow Sr; a sister, Teressa Winslow Melton; a brother, Melton Winslow Jr., three uncles; Theodore Roosevelt Hurdle “Tamp”, James S. Hurdle “Bud”; Ulysses S. Draines, two aunts; Earlene Hurdle Draines, Georgia Lee Hurdle Winslow and a nephew, Anthony Glenn Melton.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories; his two daughters: Chandra Kishbaugh (John), Michele Winslow, and his son, Lamont Winslow; eight grandchildren; Tierra Riddick, Amaya Jones, R’Monyea Winslow, Tahjik Pope, Jayden Watford, Jaycen Winslow, Kamaya Winslow, Amaré Kishbaugh; four great-grandchildren; Niyla Riddick, Trenstin Riddick, Nova Spencer, and Karmen Winslow(expecting); a sister, Doretha Woods, two brothers; Gene R. Winslow (Sandy), James W. Hurdle (Gloria), sister-in-law; Debra Cole-Winslow; two uncles; Harvey Winslow (Antoinette), Thurman Winslow; and five aunts; Diris White, Theodosia Jackson, Hilda Penny, Cellusteen Martin, Libbie Billups Hurdle; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends. Mike also leaves to cherish his memories some very important family members and special friends; Norma Lee Miner (Second mom), James “Jim” Kee (the Enforcer), Edward “Chugg” Kee (his Road Dog), and Ronald Rodgers (his Soul Brother) in which he loved very much.
