Odessa Gibson Eason enter into eternal rest on June 30, 2024 at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center. She fought a good fight, but God knew it was time for her to rest.
Odessa was born on October 04, 1931 in Gates County, NC to the late Georgetta Eure Gibson and Parrish Eugene Gibson. She was educated in the Gates County School System. She was married to the late George L. Eason. She joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She remained a member and worked diligently as an Usher, Senior Choir Member, Pastor’s Aide Member, Deaconess, and she work with the Junior Usher Ministry. She held these positions well until her health begin to fail her.
She enjoyed going to the Gates County Community Center to participate in the senior activities and going on outings with the other seniors until her health started to fail her. In May 2022 she became a resident of Laurel Park Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She enjoyed participating in the activities with the other residents, and she enjoyed helping the other residents with whatever they needed. She was very independent and always wanted to do things for herself.
Preceding her in death one sister Georgia Gatling, three brothers Stephen Gibson, Eugene Gibson, and James Knight, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter Carrie Gibson of Sunbury, NC, an adopted son Carroll Eason, and one granddaughter, Darletha M. Griffin of Sunbury, NC. She has several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A viewing and visitation will take place on Tuesday July 9, 2024 at the funeral home from 3pm to 6pm.
A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday July 10, 2024, 12 noon at St Paul Baptist Church.
Final resting place will be at St. Paul Church cemetery.
