Robert Williamson Obituary

Robert Eugene Williamson, affectionately known as “Skin,” was born on December 8, 1951, in Lackawanna, New York to Caroline and Theodore Williamson. He departed this life peacefully, on March 10, 2022.

Robert was raised in Lackawanna where he played high school football and worked at Bethlehem Steel. In his early twenties, he moved to Baltimore, Maryland to pursue a career in the music industry. He worked as a stage manager for disco groups, The Trammps and Blue Magic, and with them, he traveled the world.  After many successful years in music, he left touring to spend more time at home with his family. Skin went on to become a truck driver. He was extremely proud of his “Class A CDL,” and a proud Teamster.

During a chance encounter at a gas station in Baltimore, a Southern belle from North Carolina named Phyllis Barnes caught his eye. She was the “Southern to his Northern” and they were later married.

In 2009, after the passing of his beloved wife, Phyllis, Skin returned to Buffalo where he delighted in spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. Robert was kind, funny, generous, loving, proud, and strong. In his later years, he enjoyed music, movies, and sweet treats; but above all else, he loved and enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His presence will be sincerely missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Phyllis; brother Billy, and baby sister, Mary Anne.

He leaves to cherish his memory and pass on his “lectures”: three daughters, Felicia (Chad), Crystal (Dolan Jr.), and Robin (Kevin); grandchildren: Chandler (Antuanette), Ashley (Josh), Tayler (Keeon), Kayla (Jordan), Ja’mya, Aviahana, Layla, and Avery; nephew-raised as his grandson, Billy (Aquilla); niece/granddaughter, Kalaia; nephews/grandsons, Jayden and Levi;  great grandchildren, Shania, Mia, Pharoah, Eriyelle, Keeon Jr., Santana, Cerenity, and Ka’mya; brother, Gary; nephew, Gary Jr. (Lisa); former wife and lifelong friend, Annie; and a host of other relatives and friends.
