Robert "Red" Johnson, Sr., born and raised in Gates County on December 11, 1953, peacefully transitioned from this life on November 12, 2025. A true Gates County legend, Red was known far and wide because everybody knew him, and nobody ever forgot him.
Red was a fun-loving man with a vibrant spirit that could light up any room. He was the life of every party, the one whose laugh you could hear before you even saw him coming. A die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, he wore his team pride boldly and never missed a chance to cheer them on- win or lose.
He loved to cook, especially pigs, and his meals brought people together just as much as his personality did. Whether he was preparing a feast or sharing a story, Red made everyone around him feel at home.
Robert "Red" Johnson, Sr. will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the entire community that loved him dearly.
May his spirit live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
