Ronald Wayne Rodgers of Gates, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on April 11, 2025, in Eilzabeth City, North Carolina.
Ronald W. Rodgers was born July 23, 1957, to the late Elisha and Venzuela Costen Rodgers in Suffolk Virginia. He was educated in the Gates County Public School System graduating with the class of 1975.
He married his sweetheart and love of his life, Gail Hathaway on December 19, 1989, at Central Middle School by the late Reverend Eugene Fields.
He was an employee of Gates County Public Schools as Head Custodian of Central Middle School, retiring after 32 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elisha and Venzuela Rodgers: his son Wayne Hathaway, his brother John Rodgers, and his sister Angela Rodgers.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Gail H. Rodgers; daughter Ashley N. Mercer (Rashawn) all of the home; son Nathan R. Rodgers (Adrienne) of Durham; and daughter-in-law Monica A Hathaway of Gates. Five granddaughters Audriana Hathaway, Amaria Hathaway, Aniaya Hathaway, Maliyah Johnson, and Ayven Rodgers; and two grandsons Jaiden Mercer and JaSier Mercer. Brothers Don Rodgers (Bonnie) of Fayetteville North Carolina; Kenny Rodgers of Suffolk, Virginia; and Alan Rodgers (Edna) of Gatesville, North Carolina; aunt Thelma Riddick (Rudolph) of Gates and a host of in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday April 18, 2025 at 1:00pm at New Middle Swamp Baptist Church
A viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday April 17, 2025 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at the funeral home
