Ruby Louise Price was born on January 1, 1939 to Major and Lucille Collins, in Nansemond County, Virginia. Major and Lucille later moved their family to Gates, North Carolina where Ruby spent her formative years. She was baptized as a child as a member of the Red Oak Grove A.M.E Church. Ruby earned a High School diploma and graduated from Buckland High School.
Ruby moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1958 and began working on her life goals. She met and married Elmer Price in 1983 and the couple resided in Carle Place, New York. Ruby worked at iconic restaurants in New York City such as Chock-full-of-Nuts and Ben's Kosher Deli. In 2020 after 26 years of service at Ben's Kosher Deli she decided to retire and start a new chapter with her husband Elmer in Hamilton, North Carolina. Ruby was ready to move closer to her family in Gates, North Carolina.
In her leisure time Ruby loved to travel and spend time with her family. She vacationed in London, Amsterdam, Brussels, and the Caribbean.
Ruby was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 31, 2023. She leaves to continue her legacy her husband of forty years, Elmer Price of Hamilton, North Carolina; one sister, Sheila Collins of Gates, North Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as extended family and friends.
A viewing and visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, from 4pm - 7pm at the funeral home.
A celebration of a beautiful life well lived will take place on Thursday April 6, 2023, 11am, at Red Oak Grove AME Zion Church in Gates, NC
