Samuel Lee Smith transitioned peacefully December 28, 2025, at ECU Medical Center, Greenville NC surrounded by his loving family.
Samuel was born to the late William and Frances Rodgers Smith on February 8,1959, in Suffolk Va.
Sammy attended Gates County Public Schools and later attended ADAP and Solid Foundation Adult Centers in Ahoskie NC for many years.
Sammy loved his family and always greeted them with a big smile, TV, old shows, Music, Good Food, Dancing and putting on his Shades made him happy in his own special way.
He was predeceased by a loving sister “Alice Mae “ Smith Jenkins, who was like a mother to him as she took care of him from a young age after his mother passed.
Sammy leaves to cherish his precious memories, one sister, Queen Harrison (Roger) of Sunbury, North Carolina; three aunts, Mary Saunders of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Ella Smith and Elsie Ward of Gatesville North Carolina; one Uncle George Smith (Ida) of Plainfield New Jersey; a devoted and loving niece, Frances Jenkins of the home, who exceptionally nurtured and cared for him; along with a host of additional nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A viewing and visitation will take place on Friday January 2, 2026, at the funeral home from 4pm to 7pm.
A celebration of life service will take place on Saturday January 3, 2026, 11am at Upper Room Assembly Church.
Final resting place will be at First Baptist Gates Church Cemetery.
