Shirley worked at Family Foods Store in Corapeake, NC, where her warm and welcoming presence made her a cherished member of the community. Later, she found love and companionship with James Roscoe White, and together, they relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina. In Raleigh, Shirley dedicated herself to a career in childcare, where she positively influenced the lives of countless children for a decade.
Shirley’s faith was an essential part of her life, and she became a devoted member of Lincoln Holiness Church in Raleigh. Her unwavering commitment to her faith and her church community was evident to all who knew her. Even as her health began to decline, she remained faithful to her beliefs.
Shirley’s strength and resilience were truly remarkable. She faced and conquered the challenges posed by stage 4 colon cancer for many years, defying the odds and inspiring those around her with her courage and determination. She was a loving and cheerful soul, known for her radiant spirit and unfailingly positive attitude, even in the face of adversity.
Preceding her in death is her parents and two stepbrothers, Emerson and Osmond Howell.
