With hearts filled with love, gratitude, and cherished memories, we celebrate the beautiful life of Thelma Claiborne, a woman whose kindness, grace, and unwavering love touched everyone blessed enough to know her.
Thelma was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on Aug. 23, 1929, to the late Clarence Brown and Margaret Hurst Brown. On June 14, 2026, she peacefully transitioned from this earthly life, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and strength that will continue to inspire generations.
Thelma was truly a beautiful woman both inside and out. She possessed a gentle spirit, a caring heart, and a smile that could brighten any room. She was an extraordinary woman whose presence brought comfort, wisdom, and joy to those around her. To know Thelma was to lover her, for she had a special way of making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and appreciated.
Her memory will be treasured forever, and her legacy of love will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who knew her.
On Saturday June 27, 2026, there will be a viewing prior to the service, starting at 10am to 12 noon at the church. Promptly at 12 noon the celebration of a remarkable life well lived will be held at Poplar Run Baptist Church in Suffolk, Va.
Final resting place for Ms. Claiborne will be at Virginia State Veterans Cemetery-Amelia
