Walter L Blount

Walter Lee Blount of Edenton, N.C. entered into rest and peace on Monday, February 26, 2024 at 1:36 p.m. in Sentara Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City, N.C.

Walter was born September 24, 1948 in Chowan County to the late Henry and Sudie Blount. He grew up in Edenton, N.C. where he attended the public schools.

As a young adult, Walter fell in love with race cars. Racing cars and being at race tracks became his favorite hobbies. He also operated his own paint and body shop in Edenton.

 As time went on, he started an additional occupation by becoming a self-employed landscaper. He worked during this time for several local businesses and residents.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Sudie Blount; his siblings, Hazel, Bill, Evelyn, James, Carolyn, Katie, Tony, Lionel, and Jerry.

He leaves to cherish his memories to his wife of 32 years, Shirley; five daughters: Samanta Coston of Boston, MA, Arlette Blount of Accokeek, MD, Tomeika Outland of Greenville, NC, Alvita Winslow of Edenton, NC, and Nikita Rodman (Jojuan) of Washington, NC; two sisters, Rosie, Trafon, and Carmeneita Johnson of Raleigh, NC; two sisters-in-law,  Betty Eason of  Sunbury, NC and Patricia Jones (Theron) of Mesie, NC; ten grandchildren: Anthony, Corycae’, Corey Jr., Sha’Quanna, Coreesha, Nehemiah, Corya’nna, Serenity, Alayah, and Anari; three great-grandchildren: Harmonee, Ermias and Rayce; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A viewing and visitation will take place on Saturday March 2, 2024, from 3pm to 6pm at the funeral home.

A celebration of life will take place on Sunday March 3, 2024, 2pm at Emmanuel Full Gospel Church in Windsor, NC.

Final resting place for Walter will be at Beaver Hill Cemetery in Edenton, NC.
