Wayne Russell Hathaway

Wayne Russell Hathaway of Gates, NC departed this life on November 11, 2017.  Wayne was born August 14, 1977 to Ronald Rodgers and Gail Hathaway Rodgers in Suffolk, Va.  He was educated in the Gates County Public School System graduating with the class of 1995.  Wayne was a faithful member of New Middle Swamp Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member of the male chorus.  Wayne was a member of Jephthah Masonic Lodge #174 located in Gatesville, NC, as well as a Shriner.  He was an employee of the Gates County Public school system as a teacher's assistant in the Exceptional Children Department, but he is known as being the Coach of the Red Barons varsity boys basketball team.  It was through this position he touched so many lives.  Wayne also was a co-founding member of Nexx II Nun MC where he served as Vice President.

Left to cherish his wonderful memories: his wife of 15 years Monica A. Hathaway, three daughters: Audriana M. Hathaway, Amaria N. Hathaway, and Aniaya M. Hathaway all of the home.  His parents Ronald and Gail H. Rodgers of Gates. Two sisters, Five brothers, Three special brothers, Two sister-in-laws, 6 aunts, 8 uncles, 9 nieces, 3 nephews, and a host of in-laws, cousins and friends.

  A service of Celebration will take place on Sunday Nov. 19, 2017 2pm at the new Gymnasium on the campus of Gates County High School.  Mr. Hathaway remains will lie in state from 12 noon until time of service, which will start promptly at 2pm.  Burial will follow at New Middle Swamp Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

The viewing and visitation will take place on Saturday from 1pm to 7pm at Community of Hope Funeral Service Hobbsville, NC.
