Mr. William Earl Britt, Sr, “Bunkie” as he was affectionately called was born May 9, 1948 to the late Alonzo & Mary Britt in Chowan County, NC. He was educated in Chowan Co and learned various farm and logging work at a young age. He was later employed at Lipton Tea and Hoffler sawmill. In the summer Bunkie would sell watermelons and cantaloupes for various farmers in the area until his health declined. He entered into enternal rest at Chowan Rivers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on April 25, 2018.
He leaves to cherish his loving wife, Minnie, and his three children- Jennifer(Claude), William Jr. (Sonya), and Antonio Lamont. An adopted son whom he treated as his own Paul Gary (Ellie) of Gates, N.C. His adopted mother, Annie Mae Elliott of Tyner, N.C. His beloved sisters: Thelma Shannon (Johnnie), Kathryn, Annette (Jose), Emma all of Tyner, N.C., Geneva of Norfolk, V.A. and his brother, Leroy Britt of 14 grandchildren (3 of whom he raised: Anjelica, Jasimine, & Ta’Myra), and 9 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his adoptive father Rufus Elliott, 3 brothers, and 1 sister.
