William “Bud” Brinkley was born on August 23, 1939 to the late William Ambrose Brinkley and Ginny Ruth Brinkley. He departed this earthly life on March 21, 2023 at Sentara Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City, NC.
He married Fannie L. Mitchell and to this union three children were born.
He joined Joppa Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. In his later years he returned and was a faithful attendee until his health failed him.
He served for a short while in the United States Army. For years and before retirement, Bud drove dump trucks for a company in Virginia.
Bud had a passion for cars and you could often find him ‘tinkering’ with them. He had a healthy appetite, he loved to eat, fellowship and hangout at Hardees in Hertford, NC with the “Hardee Boys”, who consisted of William Modlin, Frankie Etheridge, Fred Yates, Teddy Hunter, Branch Dean, Eugene Knight, and Tracy Hunter.
Other than his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Doris Jean Mitchell, two brothers: Clarence Brinkley and George Brinkley, four sisters: Ethel L. Eason, Mildred Brinkley, Ella Brinkley, and Nellie Brinkley.
Left to cherish his memories is two daughters: Nancy Brinkley and Dalphine Brinkley, three grandchildren: Shevonna Brinkley, Arlanda Mitchell, Jr., and Jeremy Brinkley, three sisters: Annie Smith, Shelia Brinkley, and Irene Downing, a brother-in-law, Allen Mitchell (Shirley), a devoted friend, brother, and son, William “Will” Kee (Annette), along with a host of other relatives, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Viewing and Visitation will take place on Saturday March 25, 2023, from 4pm - 7pm at the funeral home.
A Celebration of Life for a beautiful soul well lived will take place on Sunday March 26, 2023, 130pm at Joppa Baptist Church in Hobbsville, NC.
Final Resting place will be at the Freeman Family Cemetery in Hobbsville, NC
