Willie “Mack” Wilson was born to Marjorie Wilson and Willie Wilson, Sr. on April 25, 1960. The Lord in his perfect timing called him suddenly to rest on December 16, 2024.
Willie was preceded in death by his father and mother. He was a devoted and caring son, providing exceptional care for his mother. Also preceding him in death was his dear Aunt Blanche Boyette, Elizabeth White, William McKinley White, Sr. and Eva Mae. Willie also cared for and supported his brother, “Dean” until his death. His brother, “Bubba” James H. Artis, also preceded him in death.
Willie “Mack” was educated in the Gates County Public School System and completed Gates County High School.
He was known as a man of his word. He was employed for 40 years at Newport News Shipbuilding. He was an excellent, detailed and dependable worker. He received many accolades, rewards, and acknowledgements in his time on the job.
Willie “Mack” was joined in marriage by his pastor, Bishop/Elder Archie Timmons at V.C. Temple C.O.G.I.C. to the love of his life, Karen Major. Their union spanned 33 years until his recent passing. He spoke his love language loudly to his “honey” by always making sure that the bills were paid, and his house was provided for.
He was a “mopar man”; he loved to race his hot rods and build on them. He rode motorcycles on occasion and horses in his youth.
He accepted the Lord as Savior at V.C. Temple COGIC. He served there for many years as a great usher. He served on various committees and was a great partner to work. He never took back his confession of salvation.
He was faithful to his conference call ministry with Reverend Copeland of Lighthouse Holiness Church. He honored him as pastor and friend. Bro. Wilson was on the Williams Family Prayer line on Sunday night with his wife’s family. Bro. Wilson spoke up and said, “I have something to say” (unusual for him). The last epitaph that he left as his statement of faith was, “I finally know what Elder Timmons meant when he said, “This world is not my home, we are just passing through.” We have Eternity to live again in Heaven or hell, I choose Heaven.
Leaving to cherish his memories is his wife, Karen Wilson, five children whom he served as Dad and Father to: Demetric Ralph, James Major, Keith Harrell, Damian Wilson, and Priscilla Wilson; eight grandchildren: Samone Wilson, Phabian Harrell, Da’Shonda Ralph, Demetric Ralph, Jr., Gracelin Major, Semaj Major, Noah Wilson, and Roman Wilson. Mourning his loss are two very special and close relatives that he loved greatly: Lee Herman Boyette and his McCoy. He also leaves memories to his nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
A viewing and visitation will be held on Friday December 27, 2024 from 3:00pm - 6:00pm. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday December 28, 2024 at 11:00am and Upper Room Assembly Church.
